If you think with your buts youll never get ahead Harvey F Goldglantz Contributor I nertia is the tendency to stay transfixed and resist movement Inertia is the enemy of progress and business Its an insidious foe ultimately resulting in placing you farther away from achieving your goals and dreams One day in the future youll look back searching for answers as to why you are where you are how you let time slip away and ultimately realize that it was inertia and the buts in your life that were your own undoing If you constantly wonder why your competitors grow while you remain stagnant youre most certainly a but man or woman Inertia and buts are a way of life for you As a consultant I speak with owners of companies regularly who are frustrated by their lack of growth I explain that its not difficult to grow in this business It has nothing to do with how smart you are It has everything to do with how much youre motivated dedicated and willing to invest mentally emotionally and financially It has even more to do with the people with whom you surround yourself and it has everything to do with putting your money where your mouth is No risk no reward No pain no gain Inertia unequivocally leads to withering and the death of potential Your competitors grow because they use significantly less buts than you Their will to succeed exceeds their need for risk avoidance Marketing Buts ted Id like to move ahead but its not the right time too busy too slow I want to grow but Im afraid of failing I know that it takes money to make money but Im afraid Ill waste my investment I know that it takes money to make money but I dont have the money to invest I know I need more sales but I cant afford to do more sales or marketing I know I need more help but I cant afford another technician until I fill another route I would like to grow but the economy is too uncertain I know I have to grow but my spouse wont support me I know I need to grow but Im too young too old to take the risk The excuse department is now officially closed 44 March 2011 Pest Management Professional mypmp net
